Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 15, 2026
Overview
BrowserHoop is a browser game extension that turns webpage text into a basketball game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
BrowserHoop collects the minimum data necessary to operate the game and public leaderboard:
- Gameplay scores — your score, number of hoops hit, combo count, and game duration after each game session.
- Page domain and title — the domain name (e.g. "google.com") and page title of the website where you played, used to organize the per-domain leaderboard.
- Player name — an optional display name you can set in the extension popup. Defaults to "Anonymous" if not set. This is not verified against any real identity.
- Extension version — the version of BrowserHoop you are running, used for compatibility tracking.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your browsing history
- We do not collect page content, text, images, or media
- We do not collect personal information (email, real name, address, age)
- We do not collect authentication credentials or passwords
- We do not collect financial or payment information
- We do not collect location data
- We do not track clicks, keystrokes, or mouse movements outside of active gameplay
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking services
- We do not serve ads
How We Use Your Data
- Local storage — your scores and player name are saved locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to participate in the public leaderboard.
- Public leaderboard — after each game, your score, the page domain, page title, player name, and extension version are sent to our server at browserhoop.vercel.app and stored in a database. This data is displayed publicly on the leaderboard website.
Data Storage and Security
Leaderboard data is stored in a Supabase (PostgreSQL) database. All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties. The leaderboard data is publicly viewable by design — scores are meant to be shared.
Your Rights
You can stop data collection at any time by uninstalling the extension. Local data is automatically removed when the extension is uninstalled. If you would like your leaderboard entries removed from the public database, contact us at kunalb.design@gmail.com and we will delete them.
Third-Party Services
- Supabase — database hosting for the public leaderboard. Supabase Privacy Policy
- Vercel — web hosting for the leaderboard website and API. Vercel Privacy Policy
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
